The endocrine system is made up of various glands in the body.


The glands secrete different hormones and neurotransmitters and the function of each one is different. One of the most prominent function of the endocrine system is to activate the fight or flight mechanism via the hormones secreted by the adrenal glands. Other functions include growth, maturation of sexual characteristics (puberty), as well as regulation of vital body functions.
