For converting an exponential form (i.e. ${343}^{\frac{1}{3}}$) into a radical form, I just remember what the basic form $\sqrt{x}$ is in its exponential form which is ${x}^{\frac{1}{2}}$.
The numerator of the power $\frac{1}{3}$ which is 1, is the power of the radicand 343. The denominator of the power $\frac{1}{3}$ which is 3, is the index (the outside) of the radical.
