How do we balance chemical equations?

You balance equations the same way you balance your credit card or cheque book or weekly budget.....

Explanation:

#"Garbage in equals garbage out"#.

And this is the fundamental, underlying principle of all stoichiometry.

And ever since alchemists and chemists approached the subject rationally and quantitatively, they found that the mass of the products of a chemical reaction, WERE PRECISELY EQUAL to the MASS of the REACTANTS.....there was no magic multiplier, no something for nothing....and a colour TV.

And see this old answer and especially the links for more of the same.....

(I must be getting old; these days no one has a cheque book anymore....so I need another example of stoichiometry.)
