Many features indicate changes that can only take place over a time period, not instantly.

Explanation:

River valleys, river paths, canyons, mountain range heights and shapes, river deltas all show that changes to the earth surface take place over time.

Rivers change course as they encounter different bed materials, and also as they carry materials downstream. Deltas are the result of materials dropping out of the rivers. Canyons and river valleys show the result of ages of erosion by the river on the mountains and mesas. Mountain shapes show the erosion from sharp, more recent upheavals to rounded and even forested tops from years of erosion and plant migration.

Lakes change in size and composition over time as the water flows, temperatures, and aquatic life changes.
