A few thoughts...

Explanation:

Some questions you might ask yourself:

  • What is the purpose of the quiz? Is it for fun, competition, to be published in a magazine?

  • Who will be attempting to answer the questions?

  • Is access to Google, etc. available to those participating?

  • What subject areas are appropriate?

  • How much time will participants have to answer the questions?

  • Should the quiz include harder and easier questions, to make it fun and challenging for everyone?

  • Should the quiz include questions for which the participants are not expected to know an exact answer, but are to compete by making the best guess?

  • Would it be helpful to make at least some of the questions multi-choice?

  • How much effort will be involved in scoring as a result of the choice of questions?

Set yourself some criteria for a good quiz, then attempt to meet them.

For example, you might adopt something like this:

  • The answers should not be immediately available via Internet search.

  • Each question should be answerable by about half of the individual participants or participating teams.

Here are a few possible questions:

  • About how many "nah"'s are there in the original Beatles version of Hey Jude?

  • Why do mirrors reverse left and right but not top and bottom?

  • What number is exactly half way between #1/3# and #1/5#?

  • If you crunch sugar crystals in a pair of pliers what phenomenon results?

  • Why does a combination of red light and green light produce yellow light?
