Human evolution was a slow and laborious process before language. However once we developed a form of communication we began to evolve much faster. Language drove humanity to pack together in order to communicate and learn. Bringing humanity together in large groups allowed us to advance both socially and scientifically. Language allows us to express thoughts, feelings and aspirations that help define us as human. Throughout history we have spoken a plethora of languages and it seems we are moving full circle. In an era of globalisation it seems the world moves closer to a universal language. How that will affect humanity is as yet unknown!
