Explanation:
- These are simple sugars which can't be hydrolyzed. Glucose, fructose and galactose are common monosaccharides.
- Monosaccharides have an empirical formula of
#(CH_2O)_n# , where n =#3# or some larger number. - When two monosaccharides combine with each other by glycosidic bond releasing water molecule, they form a diasaccharide. For examaple: Sucrose is a diassacharide of
#alpha# -D-Glucose and fructose. - And when a lot of monosaccharides combine with each other, they form polysaccharides(carbohydrates of high molecular mass) i.e starch,Cellulose, glycogen etc...
