Special can be used in a couple of parts of speech just by saying special...

Explanation:

Adjective: The special card was sitting on the students desk.
Noun: The special at the restaurant was bacon and eggs.

Some words are used in the same form, but in different parts of speech, depending on how you use it in a sentence. Another example of this is jump.

Verb: Suzy, why did you jump on the couch?
Noun: The upcoming jump caused Elanor a lot of pressure.

I hope that this helps... If you need more help, let me know :)
