IUPAC Stands for International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry which evolved a scheme for assigning systematic names to organic compounds in 1958.

Explanation:

The IUPAC names are superior to common names because they can give the exact structure of the substance.Similarly, a particular IUPAC refers to only one structure for the given organic compound. Thus a systematic method(based on certain rules) for assigning the name of organic compound by means of which one can draw the structure of that compound is called IUPAC system of nomenclature.
It is systematic, superior and internationally adopted.
