There are 9 servings.

The operation here is division.

As soon as there is the idea of "how many times can I get this from that," it is division.

Imagine pouring servings of lemonade into a single measure one at a time and then working out how much is left in the pitcher each time

#64.8 -7.2-7.2-7.2 etc# until the pitcher is empty.

Division is the short cut for successive subtraction.

#64.8/7.2 = 64.8/7.2 xx 10/10 =648/72#

A slightly different approach

The total count of servings is 9

Using ratio ( I love ratios. They can be used in sorts of calculations )

We can convert this to counts

#("1 serving")/("total count of servings")" "=" " (7.2-:7.2)/(64.8 -:7.2)= 1/9#

So the total count of servings is 9
