More people can see a total lunar eclipse than a total solar eclipse.

Explanation:

Eclipses occur when the Sun, Earth and Moon are in alignment which is known as a syzygy.

A total lunar eclipse can only happen at a full moon. The Earth's shadow is cast on the Moon which causes it to go a reddish brown colour. As the Earth is bigger than the Moon the shadow covers the whole face of the Moon. It is visible to anyone in the hemisphere facing the Moon, so a lot of people can see it.

A total solar eclipse can only happen at a new moon. The Moon shadow follows a narrow track which is at most a few hundred kilometres wide. The track of an eclipse is often only over water or sparsely populated areas. It is quite rare for an eclipse path to pass over a large city.

The 2017 total solar eclipse was unusual in that is passed over the USA from coast to coast and made it visible to quite a lot of people. The 2019 and 2020 total solar eclipses pass mainly over ocean and sparely populated parts of South America. To see total solar eclipses usually requires going on specially organised eclipse tours.
