Can we use energy up?

The universe will eventually reach a constant equal energy level. We cannot create or destroy energy, only its form can be changed.

Explanation:

Don't confuse the extraction and use of "energy producing" sources from the general term and implications of energy.

On a local area, yes, you can get to the point where there is no more "extractable" energy available. For example, when you burn a piece of wood you change its chemical energy into heat and light energy (and a few different chemical species). Once you have burned it, you can't burn it again, and it is gone.

If you extend that a bit to a forest, you can still eventually use up all of the available energy in that area.

There is a lot of energy from the sun, but we actually receive a very miniscule part of it. We are unlikely to use it up or extinguish it before mankind disappears or moves off of the planet. But, we may also never be able to obtain much of it for use on the planet.
