Explanation:

Pumice has a large volume to the ratio of mass due to the honeycomb nature of the material. The volcanic ash that forms pumice is very light ( a low density). Density is the ratio of mass to volume. The light mass combined with the large volume due to trapped air gives pumice its low density that allows it to float.
