The most common minerals species which crystallize in the hexagonal division are apatite, beryl, and high quartz.

You might also need to look at hardness, streak and other properties. There are also some more obscure hexagonal minerals too. Quartz is hexagonal and is known to occur in almost every color you can imagine - you might start with quartz and see if the other properties fit.
