Do America ever have a communist leader?

If by "America", you mean the "USA", then no. If you are asking about the Americas (North, Central, and South), then the answer is yes.

While there have been many efforts over the years to paint political opponents as Communist, and a very famous effort back in the 1950s by Senator Joe McCarthy era called the Red Scare - more about that here:

The closest that I am aware of to anyone holding that label is Bernie Sanders who at least was, if not still is, a Socialist.

If by "America" the question is about the Americas - North, Central, and South, then the answer is yes - countries such as Cuba, Nicaragua, and El Salvador have had Communist leaders (in Central America) and Venezuela in South America.
