Does the solar system affect the tides?
That is entirely a product of the pull of the moon's gravity upon the surface of the earth.
The Moon is the main actor in producing the tides. However, the Sun also has a smaller contribution. This will change the force of the tides. In days the Sun and the Moon pull in the same direction, the tides will be stronger (Full moon , new moon). In opposition, when the Sun and the Moon pull in different directions, the tides will be weaker (quarters).
