Although Japan lost 4 attack carriers these losses could have been replaced by existing carriers or the ones carriers being built; the big problem was the massacre of the experienced and well trained pilots in service on these carriers.

Explanation:

The Battle of Midway is generally considered as the turning point of the war in the Pacific because the Japanese allegedly lost their best carriers and so they lost their ability to wage a war that had in the carrier the most important and powerful asset.

In reality even after Midway Japan had a lot of carriers and they even used them as bait in the battle for Leyte!

In my opinion during the battle of Midway many irreplaceable Japanese pilots were sent into almost suicidal missions to attack nonexistent American fleets that were normally not found where they were heading and in doing so they frequently couldn't come back to their carriers for lack of fuel or were met by the fighters defending the American fleet.
On top of this many of them were inside their aircrafts above or below deck when the bombs started to rain on the four carriers: Akagi, Kaga, Soryu and Hiryu.
