Increasing wavelength decreases frequency.

Explanation:

Recall that, frequency is related with wavelength through,

#v=flambda#

All electromagnetic waves are just light photons, so they travel at the speed of light #c#, and so we get,

#c=flambda#

Since the speed of light in an empty space, a vacuum, is constant, we can define the equation as,

#flambda=k#

  • where #k# is a constant.

or

#fprop1/lambda#

So, the frequency is inversely proportional to the wavelength. Increasing wavelength decreases frequency, and vice-versa.
