A guide: hash 2x^2 hash gives #2x^2#
For multiply do not use star as it gives a dot. Use double x #>#xx. However, do not put xx directly next to the variable #x# is it goes wrong. Make sure there is a gap. Also, if you wish to group thing as a fraction you need to use brackets.
Example: hash (2x+3) / (5x1) hash #>(2x+3) / (5x1) #
