Help, please ,An ultrasonic sensor is used to measure the level of water in a large water tank with height of 5m ?

An ultrasonic sensor is used to measure the level of water in a large water tank with height of 5m . The sensor is fitted at the top of the tank. If the speed of sound is 340m/s, and the sound waves takes around 4ms to travel back and forth from the surface of the water. What is the water level in the tank?

#4.32# m

Explanation:

The distance sound travels from the sensor at the top of the tank to the water surface and back is

#340 " m"\ "s"^-1 times 4times 10^-3" s" = 1.36" m"#

Thus, the distance from the top of the tank to the water surface is

#(1.36" m")/2 = 0.68" m"#

The water level in the tank is #5" m" -0.68" m" = 4.32" m"#

Although the question does not explicitly say where the ultrasound is, I have assumed that it is located at the top of the tank, alongside the sensor
