How are the causes of tuberculosis and diphtheria similar? How are they different?

Both tuberculosis and diphtheria are caused by bacterial infection but the areas of infection are not same.
Mode of transmission is same but symptms are different.

Explanation:

Both diphtherial and tubercular causing organisms are bacilli- rod shaped bacteria. Both attack respiratory system, hence transmitted by droplets sprayed by sneezing/coughing

In diphtheria there is appearance of a gray membrane in the throat and upper part of trachea. The disease develops gradually with fever and sore throat. Children may die due to choking of wind pipe.

In tuberculosis, the bacteria invade lungs and start multiplying when immunity is compromised. Chronic cough, night fever, weight loss, etc are symptoms of the disease.
