How can a global temperature increase affect plants?

Of course.

Explanation:

Different plant species will be affected differently, but all plant species have a temperature range that they can live in. Generally speaking warm weather is good for plants, however warmer air can hold more water vapor before reaching saturation. That means that global warming has the potential to led to periods of drought in locations that it has never been a problem before, and extend periods of drought in areas where it is more common.

The other thing to consider is some plants require a temperature drop in their life cycle. Some plants will not flower until after a period of below freezing temperatures. If the temperature fails to get that cold or fails to stay that cold for a long enough period, there could be situations where certain plants fail to flower. This would not be good for those species.
