How did africans play a role in the middle passage, OTHER than being captured into slavery?

They were the people that captured people in Africa, brought them to the coast, and sold them to the European Captains on slave ships to be taken to the Americas.

Explanation:

Slave traders raided inland villages for slaves. Children and elderly were killed. Adult men and women were marched to the coast often chained together. If the captains refused to buy a slave for whatever reason that slave could be killed immediately because the were unfit for sale.

Often debtors, criminals, and war prisoners were also sold to Slave Traders.
