Ho Chi Minh was born in a relatively privileged family and thus was lucky enough to be able to go to France to studyas a member of the colonial elite. He became close to the Communist Party once in France, they trained him and helped him fufill his education. The Communist Party was the only party in France which opposed colonialism.

Once he was back in his home country he was not only revolted against colonial rule he had a tremendous knowledge which contributed to his credibility as an emancipation leader. His referring to the Declaration of human rights and to the Declaration of Independence in the declaration of indenpendence of his nation was thus due to his high level of education which was rare among colonial societies.
