NATO put an end to the Isolationist stance that had prevailed before WWII and before 1897.

Explanation:

NATO was created as a response to the Warsaw Pact.It was meant to be a coalition of capitalist countries willing to resist communism.

It introduced an internationalist perspective in U.S foreign policy. It was a complete rupture with the previous Isolationist values still embodied in the fifities by Robert Taft, the latter emphasized the fact that the USA should withdraw from NATO.
