The economic crisis that had struck the country in 1929 was eclipsed because of it.

Explanation:

In 1929, the worst economic crisis that ever occurred in U.S History took place, it led to massive failures of banks, businesses and thus created loads of unemployment.

The New Deal by FDR was an attempt to solve the crisis, and it provided relief at least on the short term. Nevertheless it did not have the same effect than WWII.

Indeed the latter led to the mobilization of the whole population either civilian or soldiers. Unemployment thus plummeted

Only the emergence of consuer's society after WWII led to the end of the crisis. The recovery started after 1945, there were henceforth both full employment and a rising standad of living.
