Hindus believe that the material world is created repeatedly, time and time again.

Hindus believe that the story of creation is an endless cycle of life and reincarnation, that is, birth, death and rebirth. One cycle represents one turn in the perpetual "wheel of time", which revolves infinitely through successive cycles of creation and destruction.

The world is generated by the Lord Brahma, operated by the Lord Vishnu and destroyed by the Lord Shiva. Interestingly, the first letter of the words "generated", "operated" and "destroyed" spell GOD.

Hindus believe that all three are parts of "Brahman" or the Supreme One, that makes up all of existence. Brahman alone exists; ultimately everything we see is "Maya" or Illusion. It is Brahman who causes the illusion of creation.

On the metaphysical level, the universe is created from "Vak" or Sound. The sacred sound "Om" is believed to be the first sound at the start of creation, a single principle from which emerged the diversity of life.
