Where $A$ is the matrix of the coefficients of the unknowns, ${A}_{x}$ is the same matrix but with the first column substituted with the coefficients of the independent terms (numbers without $x$ or $y$) and ${A}_{y}$ is again the same as $A$ but with the second column substituted.
