Liver cells have two enzymes to metabolize Alcohol to aldehyde.
Explanation:
Alcohol dehydrogenase converts C2H5OH alcohol to acetaldehyde. CH3CHO.
Acetaldehyde dehydrogenase converts CH3 CHO acetaldehyde to acetate CH3 COO
Acetalhehyde is toxic cannot be detoxified in liver.
That is the accumulation of acetaldehyde causes liver cirrhosis.
