each double bond has 1 pi bond. Each triple bond has 2 pi bonds

Explanation:

When looking at a molecules all you need to do is to count the number of double and triple bonds. each double bond has 1 pi bond. Each triple bond has 2 pi bonds. If there are only single bonds, there are no pi bonds.
