Using polynomial long division (below)
#1/2x^2+1/4x+9/8# with remainder # (25x+24)/(16x^2-8x)#

Explanation:

Remember to allow for the (zero) #x^3# term:

Note that the remainder #25/8 x +3# (over #2x^2-x#)
can be simplified as
#color(white)("XXX")(25x+24)/(16x^2-8x)# to avoid fractions of fractions.
