But as soon as we are told the values, we can evaluate the expression - ie, work out a number for it.

In 10x+60÷(2y)" " replace the $x$ by 5, and the $y$ by 2, remembering to follow the correct order of operations as well.

10(5)+60÷(2(2))

= 50 + 60÷4

=$50 + 15$

=$65$
