# How do you factor 16x^2-9=0?

May 17, 2015

property : color(blue)(a^2 - b^2 = (a+b)(a-b)

the expression given is:
$16 {x}^{2} - 9 = 0$
${\left(4 x\right)}^{2} - {3}^{2} = 0$

note : $a = 4 x \mathmr{and} b = 3$

the expression now becomes:
${\left(4 x\right)}^{2} - {3}^{2} = \left(4 x + 3\right) \left(4 x - 3\right)$ , this is the factorised form.
