I cannot recall whether there is a quicker way than this, but what I would do is try to divide every whole number into 147 until I reach 12.

Why 12? Because it is the smallest whole number less than #sqrt147#. By the time you reach 12, you have tested every possible factor.

By the way, leave out the even numbers, since 147 is odd. That done, you need test only

3 (yes) 3 x 49 = 147

5 (no)

7 (yes) 7 x 21 = 147

9 (no)

11 (no)

So, you are done!
