# How do you find the coordinates of the other endpoint of a segment with the given A are (2, 3) and the coordinates of midpoint M are (4.5, 6)?

Oct 27, 2017

( 7 , 9 )

#### Explanation:

Let the coordinates of another end point ( say, B ) is (x,y)

Here AB is a straight line and M is mid point. So, as per mid point formula :-

$4.5 = \frac{x + 2}{2} \mathmr{and} 6 = \frac{y + 3}{2}$

$\Rightarrow 9 = x + 2 , 12 = y + 3$

$\Rightarrow x = 9 - 2 = 7 \mathmr{and} y = 12 - 3 = 9$

Hence A ( x , y ) = ( 7, 9 )
