We wouldn't use the power rule for this function.

We would, however, use the rule of multiplication by constant.

In general:

#d/dx(cf)=c*d/dxf#

Also, keep in mind that:

#d/dx(c)=0#

Similarly, your function in these terms would look like:

#f(x)=c_1f-c_2#

Where:

#c_1=1/2# and #c_2=1/3#

#:. d/dx(1/2x-1/3)=1/2*1-0#

#=1/2#
