# How do you find the slope and intercept of 8x-1/2y=-2?

Sep 11, 2016

$8 x - \frac{1}{2} y = - 2$

Solve for y

$- \frac{1}{2} y = - 8 x - 2$

$y = 16 x + 4$

Slope-intercept form: $y = m x + b$, m=slope, b=y-intercept

Slope=16, y-intercept=$\left(0 , 4\right)$

x-intercept: let y=0

$0 = 16 x + 4$

$- 4 = 16 x$

$- \frac{1}{4} = x$

x-intercept= $\left(- \frac{1}{4} , 0\right)$
