# How do you find the slope and y intercept for -5x +3y =-9?

May 27, 2015

If the equation is expressed in slope-intercept form:
$y = m x + b$
the slope is $m$ and the y-intercept is $b$

$- 5 x + 3 y = - 9$

$\rightarrow 3 y = 5 x - 9$

$\rightarrow y = \frac{5}{3} x - 3$

The slope is $\left(\frac{5}{3}\right)$ and the y-intercept is $\left(- 3\right)$
