How do you find the zeros of y=3x^2+2x?

Mar 5, 2017

$x = 0$ or $x = - \frac{2}{3}$

Explanation:

$y = 3 {x}^{2} + 2 x$

$= x \left(3 x + 2\right)$

The zeros of $y$ are those values of $x$ such that $y = 0$

I.e. where $x \left(3 x + 2\right) = 0$

$\therefore x = 0$ or $3 x + 2 = 0$

Hence: $x = 0$ or $x = - \frac{2}{3}$
