# How do you FOIL  (√3 + 2) (√3 + 1)?

every time you have to foil something like this: $\left(a + b\right) \left(c + d\right)$ the solution is this: $\left(a c\right) + \left(a d\right) + \left(b c\right) + \left(b d\right)$
in this case the solution is $\left(\sqrt[]{3} \cdot \sqrt[]{3}\right) + \left(\sqrt[]{3} \cdot 1\right) + \left(2 \cdot \sqrt[]{3}\right) + \left(2 \cdot 1\right) = 3 + \sqrt[]{3} + 2 \sqrt[]{3} + 2 = 5 + 3 \sqrt[]{3}$
