How do you graph #y =2^x# by plotting points?

The process for drawing any graph is the same.

Draw a table and choose some x-values, some negative, 0 and some positive.

Calculate the y value obtained using each of the x-values.

#"y: 1/8 1/4 1/2 1 2 4 8 16"#

Now plot each point.
This graph is a curve, so join the points with a smooth free-hand line.
