# How do you multiply 1/x= (6/(5x)) + 1?

May 9, 2015

$\frac{1}{x}$ =$\frac{6}{5 x}$ $+ 1$

Multiplying the numerator and denominator of the L.H.S by 5:

$\frac{5}{5 x}$=$\frac{6}{5 x}$+ 1

$\frac{5 - 6}{5 x}$ $= 1$

$- \frac{1}{5 x} = 1$

$5 x = - 1$

$x = - \frac{1}{5}$
