How do you pronounce the word "assonance"?
As - uh - nunce
Assonance is usually used in poetry, and takes place when there are a group of words (doesn't matter the amount, at least two) together in a line or sentence that have the same vowel sounds.
I own a rose.
This is assonance because the o in own and the o in rose have the same long o vowel sound, and they are two words close to one another.
