A different approach from the previous answer:

Simplify $\frac{5 y - 10}{-} 5$ .

Factor out the $5$ in the numerator.

$\frac{5 y - 10}{-} 5$ =

$\frac{5 \left(y - 2\right)}{-} 5$

Divide the $5$ by the $- 5$.

$\frac{\cancel{5} \left(y - 2\right)}{\cancel{- 5}} = - 1 \left(y - 2\right)$ =
