Isolate #tanx# on the left first.

#tanx = -1xx2 = -2#

Arctan will give you the value of the angle x, which has its tan value of -2.

(on most calculators, arctan is shown as #tan^(-1)#, not to be confused with #1/tan#)

So, #x = -63.4°#

However, angles from 0° to 360° are usually asked for.

#x = 116.6° or 296.6°#
