# How do you solve 2x-y+2 and 2x+3y=22?

Apr 1, 2018

Using addition and subtraction

#### Explanation:

Consider $2 x - y + 2$ as equation (i) and $2 x + 3 y = 22$ as equation (ii)

Subtracting (ii) from (i)
$2 x + 3 y = 22$
$- 2 x + y = 2$

On solving we get $y = 6$

Putting $y = 6$ in equation (ii) we get ,
$2 x + 18 = 22$

Giving $x = 2$

$\therefore$ $x = 2$ and $y = 6$
