distribute the parenthesis
$\left(\frac{2}{3}\right) x - \left(\frac{2}{3}\right) \left(6\right) = 2$
$\frac{2}{3} x - 4 = 2$
add 4 to both sides of the equation
$\left(\frac{2}{3}\right) x - 4 + 4 = 2 + 4$
$\left(\frac{2}{3} x\right) = 6$
multiply 3 to both sides of the equation
$3 \left(\frac{2}{3} x\right) = 3 \left(6\right)$
$2 x = 18$
divide 2 to both sides of the equation
$\frac{2}{2} x = \frac{18}{2}$
$x = 9$
