Solve: $y = {n}^{2} + 4 n - 3 = 2.$
${n}^{2} + 4 n = 5$
${n}^{2} + 4 n + 4 = 5 + 4$
${\left(n + 2\right)}^{2} = 9 \to \left(n + 2\right) = \pm 3$
$n = - 2 \pm 3$ -> n = 1 and n = - 5
