How do you solve w = - 10+ 4w?

Mar 29, 2018

$\frac{10}{3} = w$

Explanation:

Add 10 to both sides to get rid of 10 on the Right hand side and minus w from both sides to get rid of it from the Left hand side

$\textcolor{red}{w - w} + 10 = \textcolor{red}{10 - 10} + 4 w - w$

$10 = 3 w$

Divide both sides by 3 to get rid of 3 on the Right hand side

$\frac{10}{3} = \frac{\textcolor{red}{3} w}{\textcolor{red}{3}}$

$\frac{10}{3} = w$

Basic principle to remove something from one side and place it on the other just do the reverse operation to both sides and it will remove it from the side you don't want it on.
