# How do you solve x^2 - x =30 using the quadratic formula?

Feb 15, 2016

$x = 6 \mathmr{and} x = - 5$
arrange the equation ${x}^{2} - x - 30 = 0$
$x = \setminus \frac{- b \setminus \pm \setminus \sqrt{{b}^{2} - 4 a c \setminus}}{2 a} .$
now $a = 1 , b = - 1 \mathmr{and} c = - 30$
and get two equations one is $x = \frac{1 + 11}{2}$ and $x = \frac{1 - 11}{2}$
after solving them you will get $x = 6$ and $x = - 5$
